Monica Faulkner

As an editor and publishing consultant, my goal is to help writers solve any problems that may be keeping their books from reaching their greatest creative potential – and their rightful place in today’s competitive publishing market.

I also work with businesses on print and online sales and marketing materials.

I work with:

  • Fiction writers (mainstream, literary, popular fiction)
  • Nonfiction writers (proposals and full manuscripts in health, medicine, current events, psychology, memoirs, spirituality, other areas)
  • Screenwriters
  • Publishers (all levels of editing)
  • Writers who want to self-publish (development, editing, project management, marketing)
  • Agents (“problem” projects)
  • Businesses and professionals (sales and marketing materials, Web content development and management)

I work with writers on everything from evaluations and one-on-one developmental guidance to line-editing and proofreading. Because it’s crucial in today’s marketplace to think “career” as well as “book,” I take an active role in trying to link my clients with agents and publishers, and to help them plan and create long-term careers.

I work with self-published writers to offer them editorial, project-management, and online marketing services, as well as assistance in developing speaking careers.

In the business area, I work on everything from sales letters to books for back-of-the-room sales, and for promotional and other purposes. My track record includes developing creative and inviting “sticky site” content that turns visitors into customers. As with authors, I help businesspeople to develop their speaking careers.

In the business area, I develop sales and marketing materials, including books for back-of-the-room sales and other purposes. A special focus is on working with businesses to make cost-effective and profitable use of the Internet by creating content that turns visitors into customers.

A few details about my background:

  • Coauthor of The Ideal Entrepreneurial Business for You (Wiley)
  • Published author with a national and international background in journalism and editing
  • Former executive editor of Writers Lifeline, a division of AEI, a Los Angeles-based literary management firm
  • Presenter and speaker at many writers’ groups and conferences (Santa Barbara Writers Conference, International Women Writers Guild/IWWG, Pasadena City College Writers Forum, SouthWest Writers Conference, LA Writers Conference, Independent Writers of Southern California/IWOSC)
