Michelle Nordon has a bachelor’s degree in literature and a master of fine arts in literary nonfiction writing, and has published short memoirs in various anthologies, literary journals, and popular magazines.
She has worked in publishing since 1993, including as senior editor at the University of California Press, where she worked on book manuscripts in fields as diverse as anthropology, film, art history, and philosophy; and as managing editor at the Signs journal, an international feminist studies quarterly published by the University of Chicago Press.
As a freelancer, she has edited biography manuscripts, business publications, and fiction, and has advised literary agents on fiction submissions. She is also an experienced writing tutor and teacher, and understands the importance of respecting the author’s voice while gently offering suggestions, corrections, and critiques.
She offers proofreading; copyediting; developmental editing; manuscript evaluation; and coaching and instruction in fiction and nonfiction writing, whether literary, popular, or academic.
