Beth Lieberman

I will take what you have and help you craft a winning book proposal, or offer guidance on a work-in-progress. I also provide developmental fiction editing and coaching on storytelling technique. My areas of specialty in nonfiction are motivational works, memoir, and Judaica. In fiction I concentrate on commercial women’s novels.

My editing skills and publishing sensibility were forged during my 15 years at Warner Books, Kensington Publishing, Dove/NewStar, and New American Library. During my tenure in-house, I acquired, edited and managed more than 500 published books. Among those were original fiction by New York Times bestseller Jayne Ann Krentz and other highly successful commercial novelists, as well as a wide array of nonfiction books. I also acquired for paperback and/or audio formats works by John Banville, Janet Burroway, Elena Castedo, Da Chen, Annie Dillard, Paula Fox, Stephen Jay Gould, Spalding Gray, Thomas Klemperer, T. Jefferson Parker, and others.

Projects I’ve worked on that are about to or have been recently published include Rashi’s Daughters: Books One, Two, and Three by Maggie Anton (Penguin/Plume); A Course in Happiness: Mastering the 3 Levels of Self-Understanding that Lead to True and Lasting Contentment by Mardi Horowitz, M.D. (Tarcher/Penguin); and Bending Towards the Sun by Leslie Gilbert-Lurie (HarperCollins).
